Curriculum Vitae

Cyril Tuschi was born in 1969 in Frankfurt. After Philosophy studies in Frankfurt in the late 1980s, he opened a nightclub and worked at a theatre in Stuttgart. In 1992, his first short film, Frankfurt at the Seaside was invited to several festivals in Germany. He then took up the artist name Cyril Tuschi and enrolled at the Film Academy Baden-Wuerttemberg. His other films include: Nightland (1995) a Kafkaadaptation - which won the New York Academy Camera Prize in 1996 at the Berlinale festival, Turn (1997) was his diploma film in Ludwigsburg. After some time as Musicvideo and Commercial director, Tuschi produced his feature debut Slight Changes in Temperature and Mind (2004), which won the audience award at the filmfestival of german film – Ludwigshafen and was theatrically released by Zauberland Distribution. In 2011 the feature length documentary about the Russian imprisoned billionaire KHODORKOVSKY won the main prize at the documentary festival Munich and the french critiques prize at Valenciennes Filmfestival, theatrically released by Farbfilm Distribution. Tuschi now focuses with his company LALA FILMS on script development and international co-productions of fictional & documentary topics of political and moral urgency and the lust, to roam aesthetically and storytelling-wise, through uncharted territory. 2015 Tuschi founded the virtual reality start-up You-VR. The headquarter of LALA FILMS lies in the center of Berlin and a branch office is situated at CASTLE BEESENSTEDT close to Leipzig. At the castle LALA FILMS offers several production facilities and also organizes twice a year a filmfestival. Since 2008 Cyril Tuschi also works at different filmschools (hfg - Offenbach, Filmakademie - Ludwigsburg, ifs - Cologne) with students to bring their fiction- and documentary projects to life. At present time LALA FILMS, in co-production with Port-au-Prince Film, prepares a fictional feature film, CIRCLES OF TRUST, about the whistleblowers Julian Assange, Bradley Manning and Edward Snowden, told through the eyes of a yet unknown whistleblower. Early 2015 Cyril Tuschi finished DIGITAL DISSIDENTS, a feature length documentary about motives of Whistleblower, and 2016 in the summer, RUSSIAN RESISTANCE, the sequel to KHODORKOVSKY, will have it’s international premiere. In development are two new documentaries: one about the widow of Alexander Litvinenko, WIFE OF THE SPY and the other about Hippie Kindergarden: KINDERLADEN. On the fictional side LALA FILMS develops - in collaboration with NOKIA - the first long fiction feature in 360 VR in Europe: RUN HUNTER - and the high profile drama THE IMMORTALS VR, about scientists who invent a technique to stop cells from dying. A cat and mouse game begins between several competing groups, who want to control or destroy the possibility to live forever…
