Institute for Applied and Numerical Mathematics (IANM) at KIT

The institute addresses the mathematical aspects of numerical simulation, optimization and high-performance computing. In research and projects, we develop and analyze mathematical models, computational fluid dynamics and simulation of geological phenomena, as well as the scientific visualization. The interdisciplinary collaboration is an important aspects in the projects with partners from academia, industry and the public sector.

The development and use of stereoscopic visualization is emphasized for research and efficient exploitation of numerical simulation. Scientific visualization is seen as a key technology to access simulation technology, and the group includes the adoption of the stereoscopic workplace for scientists in interdisciplinary research and industry. Furthermore, the discussion of comprehensibility and impact of numerical simulations is a central theme: In here, science is in interaction with the public.
